Well we had a long weekend! We attended all 3 days of riverfest and I am so tired! The first night was great, we saw Shooter Jennings and Sawyer Brown. Shooter was great we were close to the stage and had a great view! Sawyer Brown was great too, he sang some older country songs and he is really funny.
This is Shooter Jennings (Waylon Jenning's son). He is actually really good. Their band has a 70's/country feel to it. Brian, Calvin(his friend) and I really enjoyed it!
This is the lead singer in Sawyer Brown
On Saturday night Ashley and I saw Jake Owen and Miranda Lambert (one of my favorite singers ever!) We had good seats and didn't have to stand up at all. There were more people there Saturday night too. Brian and his friends saw One Republic across the river.
Sunday night was insane! I have never in my life seen so many people crammed into a place. Once we got far enough in, I realized I wanted to go back to the car. Brian and his friend Jason were already close to the stage for ZZ top, we dropped them off to "get us a good seat". Ryan(another one of Brian's friends) stayed with me and Ashley so we wouldn't have to walk by ourselves. We walked as far as we could until the crowd came to a stand still and turned around. A guy gave us $13 in food and beverage tickets because he didn't want to deal with the crowd. I will not be back at Riverfest on a Sunday night for awhile probably. It isn't worth it!! I can't figure out why it was so crowded. Was it ZZ top and the fireworks or was it that people don't have to work Monday? This picture is before it got really bad.
Ashley took this picture of them, I found it really funny that everyone was totally exhausted. My clothes were literally soaked with sweat, crazy humidity hair, sticky from being so close to people, dirty, and very sore from the previous days of walking. The guys couldn't even deal with the closeness of the crowd. After 5 songs they couldn't take it anymore and called us to pick them up (Ashley, Ryan and I were already driving around). That started the game of cat and mouse. We were on our cell phones fighting traffic trying to find each other. Finally, we got to the same intersection after Brian and Jason ran forever carrying chairs and blankets trying to get to us and beat the red lights. When the light turned green they were almost to me but I had to go :) and they had to back track a little to get to us. I don't know why but I was getting a kick out of the madness. Ryan was hanging out the sun roof calling for them and scaring the heck out of everyone around us. The picture below is right after we picked them up (Jason is on the right, still holding onto one of the chairs they were hauling around....Ryan is in the middle and Brian on the left).
Once we were all together again we realized we had a total of $28 in tickets we had not used. So naturally I drove over the river and dropped Brian and Ashley off at the other gate to go in and get stuff. This took awhile and they finally met back up with us as the fireworks were going off. What to do now? All we wanted to do was GO HOME. What a night.
